We lose him, my Daphnis! and where shall we find, 
So bright an assemblage of virtues combin'd:
Oh! who shall like him, join the soldier and sage
The fire of youth with the wisdom of age?
Who accomplish'd like him, who equally skill'd
To preside in our councils, and shine in the field.
